WHP and WHM - Context and comparison
According to the Luxembourg Declaration on Workplace Health Promotion (WHP), WHP includes "all joint measures taken by employers, employees and society to improve health and well-being at work." In the German social system, the health insurance funds in particular occupy a fundamental position through their obligation to provide services for workplace health promotion in companies in accordance with Section 20 of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V). The focus here is on strengthening disease-specific resources and supporting health maintenance in the workplace.
Occupational health management (OHM), on the other hand, serves as a management tool for increasing personnel and organizational performance on the basis of the classic phases of project management: target definition, analyses, implementation and evaluation. Due to the close connection between the terms BGF and BGM, it is often difficult to differentiate between them. Nevertheless, they are two different terms, since BGF and BGM each describe different levels of health promotion in the company. Occupational health management is a coherent overall concept of a company to keep the workforce healthy. Thus, WHM is set one level higher than WHP, which is to be regarded as a subarea in which individual health-promoting measures are located.
The three fields of action of occupational health management, occupational health protection, occupational integration management (BEM) and workplace health promotion ensure the health of employees at the workplace, but contain different tasks and starting points. They are linked to specific obligations of employers and rights of employees. Finally, occupational health management means the development of company framework conditions, structures and processes with the aim of maintaining and promoting the health and well-being of employees. At the relationship-related level, this means on the one hand the health-promoting design of work and organization and on the other hand the empowerment of employees to behave in a health-promoting manner at the behavior-related level.
In which area does MOCICA Health operate?
We at MOCICA Health see ourselves as part of the company health management and clearly assign ourselves to health promotion. Here we know our way around and know what we are doing. In practice, our three specially developed prevention courses according to § 20 SGB V play a major role. They meet the legal requirements and can therefore be subsidized by statutory health insurers. Since target group-specific measures are necessary in workplace health promotion, we also develop individual programs in addition to the existing prevention courses, because office workers require different health-promoting measures than nursing staff.
